Ginandjar to visit Tokyo

TOKYO (Reuters): Indonesia's top economic minister Ginandjar
Kartasasmita will visit Tokyo from tomorrow as part of a roadshow
to explain the nation's debt restructuring program to Japanese
creditors, officials said yesterday.

Ginandjar will arrive in Tokyo late on Sunday afternoon and
hold talks with Japanese investors and commercial creditors from
Monday, an Indonesian embassy official in Tokyo said.

Separately, a Japanese finance ministry official said the
ministry was trying to arrange a meeting between Ginandjar and
Finance Minister Hikaru Matsunaga.

The two ministers may discuss plans for additional aid for
Indonesia, being discussed by the International Monetary Fund
(IMF), another Japanese official said.

A World Bank official said earlier this month the bank, the
IMF, and the Group of Seven nations were finalizing an additional
US$6 billion package to supplement Indonesia's existing bailout
program.

Ginandjar will leave Japan either on July 15 or 16, the
embassy official said.
