Gilimanuk Port Reopens After 2.5-Hour Closure Due to Bad Weather

Ferry crossings at Gilimanuk Port heading to Ketapang, Banyuwangi, have resumed after being suspended for two and a half hours due to bad weather on Tuesday (28/7/2026). The closure was implemented as a safety measure after wave heights in the Bali Strait reached 2.5 metres.

Operational services were officially halted at 11.15 Wita. “Crossing services between Ketapang and Gilimanuk were postponed starting at 11.15 Wita due to unfavourable weather conditions with wave heights reaching 1.5 to 2.5 metres,” stated Navy Post Commander for Gilimanuk, First Lieutenant Aditya.

After monitoring the improving weather conditions, port authorities decided to reopen the crossing route. Services officially resumed at 13.45 Wita. “The Gilimanuk-Ketapang crossing service has been reopened at 13.45 Wita,” Aditya confirmed.

Loading and unloading activities, as well as ship departures at both ports, are now gradually returning to normal. Passengers have been advised to remain vigilant and follow instructions from officers regarding the weather situation. Aditya also noted that there were no significant traffic disruptions on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road as a result of the temporary closure.
