Gilimanuk Port Pier II Closed from 21 August, Here's ASDP's Reason

Operations at Pier II (MB II) of Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana, Bali, have officially been closed from 21 August 2026. The closure is linked to a pier capacity upgrade project targeted for completion before the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) transport period.

ASDP Ketapang Branch Public Relations Manager Bintang Felfian explained that the pier closure aims to ensure the safety of service users and workers on site. According to him, the works begin with the demolition of the existing structure of Gilimanuk Pier II.

“The pier capacity is being increased from 20 tonnes to 50 tonnes so that it can load and unload large trucks that previously could only enter via the LCM pier,” Bintang said when contacted by detikBali on Friday (21/8/2026).

According to Bintang, operational pattern planning and scheduling for Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing vessels had also been carried out a day before Gilimanuk Pier MB II was closed. He explained that the capacity upgrade project aims to ease congestion in the port area.

ASDP has also prepared a special scheme regarding the potential impact of closing one pier on traffic flow. This scheme has been prepared to prevent vehicle build-up in the Gilimanuk Port area.

“During the MB II pier development process, loading and unloading will be maximised and distributed to other MBs using a special operational pattern. We ask for your prayers and support so that it can be back in operation in time for Nataru to ensure smooth Bali-Java mobility,” Bintang concluded.
