A leadership change is occurring in Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry. PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk has officially announced the resignation of Gilarsi Wahju Setijono from his position as President Director of the company on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

The decision has immediately drawn public attention because VKTR is known as one of the companies actively developing the national electric vehicle ecosystem. The resignation will only take effect after approval at the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) scheduled for 19 May 2026.

Although there is a change at the top leadership, the company assures that the business direction and electric vehicle development strategy will continue as planned. VKTR emphasises that the transition process is being carried out professionally to maintain the company’s operational stability and long-term business continuity.

During Gilarsi Wahju Setijono’s leadership, VKTR is considered to have successfully strengthened the company’s business foundations amid increasingly tight competition in the electric vehicle industry. The company has also expanded various strategic collaborations to support the acceleration of environmentally friendly mobility in Indonesia.

One important step taken during his tenure is the construction of an electric commercial vehicle assembly facility in Magelang, Central Java. The presence of this facility is part of efforts to strengthen the domestic electric vehicle industry as well as support the transformation towards low-emission transportation.

VKTR’s Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Anindya N. Bakrie, also issued a statement regarding the leadership change. He affirmed that the Board of Commissioners respects Gilarsi Wahju Setijono’s decision and ensures that the replacement process runs in accordance with corporate governance principles.

“We respect Mr Gilarsi Wahju Setijono’s decision and convey our appreciation for the contributions he has made to the company’s development. The Board of Commissioners ensures that the leadership transition process runs well and in accordance with good corporate governance principles. Most importantly, VKTR’s strategic direction remains strong and sustainable. The company will continue to focus on strengthening business fundamentals, creating long-term value, and commitment to all stakeholders,” he said.

VKTR also assures that the leadership change will not affect the company’s operations or the strategic agenda that has been pursued so far. The company’s main focus is said to remain the same, namely strengthening the national electric vehicle ecosystem and supporting the development of the green mobility industry in Indonesia.
