The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) Surabaya 2026 has set a new record for visitor numbers. Over five days from 26–30 August 2026 at Grand City Convex, Surabaya, the exhibition was attended by 45,763 people, an increase of more than 40 per cent compared with the previous edition.

The achievement also represents the highest attendance figure in the history of GIIAS Surabaya. This year’s show also recorded growth in exhibition area and participant numbers, reflecting strong interest from the automotive industry in the East Java market.

GIIAS Surabaya 2026 occupied 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. The event featured 37 motor vehicle brands, encompassing passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and motorcycles, supported by 25 brands from the automotive supporting industry.

The presence of several new brands and returning participants further demonstrated the potential of the East Java automotive market. This year’s edition saw 14 new or returning brands join the GAIKINDO exhibition.

GIIAS Surabaya 2026 was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Faisol Riza. The opening was also attended by the Acting Head of the East Java Provincial Industry and Trade Office, Iwan, representing the Governor of East Java, GAIKINDO Chairman Putu Juli Ardika, and GAIKINDO Daily Chairman and Exhibition and Conference Organising Chairman Anton Kumonty.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Faisol said that automotive exhibitions are not merely about vehicle transactions. He noted that GIIAS plays a role in observing industry developments while stimulating economic activity in the regions.

“For the Government, GIIAS is not just an exhibition and transaction event. GIIAS is a barometer of industry health, a meeting place for innovation, and a driver of regional economies. GIIAS has become an important pillar for the national automotive industry, and GIIAS Surabaya, now in its eleventh year, has proven itself to be an inseparable part of that success,” Faisol said.

GAIKINDO Chairman Putu Juli Ardika expressed appreciation for the support of the central government and the East Java Provincial Government, as well as the public’s reception of this year’s event. The presence and support of the central government and the East Java Provincial Government provide direct encouragement for automotive industry players. We hope that all the achievements at this year’s GIIAS Surabaya can make a real contribution to strengthening the national automotive industry,” Putu said.

Of the 37 participating motor vehicle brands, 26 were from the passenger vehicle category. These included BAIC, BYD, Changan, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, GAC AION, Geely, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, iCAR, Jaecoo, JEEP, JETOUR, KIA, Leap Motor, Lepas, Mazda, Mitsubishi Motors, Polytron, Solarky, Suzuki, Toyota, Vinfast, Wuling and X-PENG. For two-wheeled vehicles, 10 brands participated: Aprilia, Kuprum, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Polytron EV, QJ Motor, Royal Enfield, Scomadi, Triumph and Vespa. The exhibition was also supported by 25 automotive supporting industry brands.

GAIKINDO Daily Chairman and Exhibition and Conference Organising Chairman Anton Kumonty said the increase in visitor numbers was one of the key highlights of this year’s event. He noted that the expansion of the exhibition area and the diversity of brands contributed to the show’s appeal.

“We thank all the people of East Java who attended and enlivened GIIAS Surabaya this year. This year’s GIIAS Surabaya truly received high enthusiasm, with 45,763 visitors, the highest attendance figure in the entire history of GIIAS Surabaya, up more than 40 per cent.
