GIIAS 2026 to Feature 'Eye of the Future' Theme, Showcasing Advanced Technology and New Brands
The 33rd Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 is set to expand, bringing fresh optimism to the national automotive industry. The annual exhibition will run from 30 July to 9 August 2026 at ICE BSD City in Tangerang, featuring 63 vehicle brands and hundreds of supporting automotive industries.
Gaikindo’s Chairman for 2025-2028, Putu Juli Ardika, stated that the 33rd GIIAS is not merely an exhibition agenda but a strategic opportunity to enhance Indonesia’s automotive industry competitiveness on a global scale.
According to Putu, the national automotive market has shown positive growth trends in early 2026. Gaikindo data recorded April 2026 wholesale sales rising 5.5% year-on-year to 80,776 units, while domestic sales from January to April 2026 grew 12.5% to 289,787 units.
“Export performance is also encouraging. Complete built-up (CBU) vehicle exports reached 159,662 units, a 10.4% increase compared to the same period last year,” Putu said during a press conference at Plataran Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Moreover, vehicle component exports surged by 76.4%. Putu noted these achievements demonstrate Indonesia’s automotive industry is becoming increasingly competitive and gaining continued trust from global principals.
Gaikindo views the entry of new brands into Indonesia as a positive sign for the national automotive industry. Therefore, it encourages brand owners not only to sell vehicles but also to establish local production bases, positioning Indonesia as a manufacturing and export hub.
Gaikindo Exhibition Chairman Anton Kumontoy affirmed that GIIAS 2026 will maintain its identity as a stage for future automotive technology, with this year’s theme ‘Eye of the Future’.
Under this theme, GIIAS will showcase innovations such as smart vehicles, autonomous driving systems, and eco-friendly mobility solutions. Anton described future vehicles as more than passive machines, but technology capable of seeing, thinking, and responding to their surroundings.
“GIIAS is not just a venue for showcasing new vehicles, but a tangible representation of how innovation is transforming the way we move in the future,” Anton said.
