Gift for Jakarta's 499th Anniversary: Pramono Inaugurates Ancol-JIS Bridge and JIS Station

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung, together with Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, inaugurated the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) railway station and the pedestrian bridge (JPO) connecting Ancol to JIS. Pramono stated that the two infrastructure projects are a special gift for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, resulting from collaboration with the central government. “On behalf of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, I would like to express my gratitude for the 499th anniversary gift in the form of the activation of JIS and Ancol, including this KRL station and the connecting bridge that we are inaugurating together,” Pramono said during the inauguration ceremony on Monday. He explained that the presence of the JIS station is expected to be the starting point for optimising the use of the stadium, which has a capacity of tens of thousands. Previously, parking and transport access were major obstacles whenever JIS hosted concerts or football matches. “Hopefully this will be a foundation for maximising the use of JIS. The main problem at JIS has been parking and transportation,” he said. He explained that the public now has more options for reaching JIS. Visitors with private vehicles can also use the parking facilities at Ancol and then walk to the stadium via the connecting bridge. “People can now park at Ancol and then walk about 300 to 400 metres to JIS. This will reduce traffic congestion, which has always been an issue during large events at the stadium,” he clarified. Meanwhile, Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the activation of JIS Station is an important milestone in improving public transport services in Jakarta, especially for the North Jakarta community. He added that the station’s presence will strengthen connectivity to the JIS and Ancol areas while encouraging the public to switch to mass transportation. “With the activation of this station, the community, especially in DKI Jakarta and North Jakarta, will be more connected to public transport services. The hope is that the North Jakarta, JIS, and Ancol areas will develop even better,” Dudy said. He expressed hope that more residents will use the KRL service to access the area and that the government is ready to increase capacity and facilities if user numbers grow. “If the number of train users increases in the future, we will certainly adjust and improve the existing facilities and infrastructure in this area,” he concluded.
