Gibran's Special Staff Meets Jokowi in Solo, Receives This Message

Suwardi, a Special Staff member for Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, visited the residence of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in Sumber, Solo. During the visit, Jokowi conveyed a message regarding the importance of maintaining harmony and national unity.

Suwardi conducted the visit amidst his activities after attending an agenda at Slamet Riyadi University (Unisri) in Solo. He brought positive news regarding Jokowi’s health, noting that the former President has now recovered.

“It was just a visit, a stop-by. I was at the university, then I stopped by to see Mr Jokowi. Mr Jokowi is healthy. That is all,” Suwarded stated after the meeting, as reported on Monday (18/5/2026).

During the approximately 30-minute meeting, Suwardi mentioned that there were no heavy political discussions. However, Jokowi left an important message for all elements of Indonesian society to continue safeguarding the nation’s harmony and unity.

“Mr Jokowi’s message was to maintain the harmony and unity of our nation,” he said.

When asked whether there was any specific message from Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, or if he was acting as a specific envoy, Suwardi denied such claims. He emphasised that the visit was a personal initiative that happened to coincide with his activities at the university.

“Oh, there is none (no message from Mas Gibran). There is none (not an envoy). This was just a personal visit while I was coming from Unisri. That’s all,” he concluded.
