Gibran's Request for Judicial Process in Andrie Yunus Case
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has requested the involvement of professionals as ad hoc judges in the prosecution of the acid attack case against human rights activist Andrie Yunus. The aim, he said, is to maintain public trust and the dignity of the law.
He stated that the government is committed to strengthening the judicial system to achieve the principle of justice. “Therefore, the direct involvement of professionals with strong track records and integrity as ad hoc judges in the acid attack trial against Andrie Yunus is important,” he said in a written statement on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
Gibran stated that justice in the case affecting the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS must truly be present in a tangible manner. The law enforcement process, he said, must also proceed honestly, openly, and accountably.
“We want justice not only to be enforced but also to be believed by society,” said the former Mayor of Solo.
The Military Police Centre (Puspom) of TNI Headquarters stated that it has transferred the case files of four suspects in the planned attempted murder case against activist Andrie Yunus. The Head of TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, said that the file transfer process was completed by investigators to the Military Prosecutor on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
“The transfer of files, suspects, and evidence of the criminal act has been handed over to Otmil II-07 Jakarta, for subsequent examination of the completeness of formal and material requirements,” said Aulia in a written statement on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
He explained that after the files are declared complete, the legal process will be continued by the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. “The suspects transferred are four with initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES along with evidence,” said Aulia.
Aulia claimed that this file transfer demonstrates the TNI’s commitment to professional, open, and accountable law enforcement. “And as a manifestation of firmness in addressing every criminal act committed by TNI soldiers,” he said.
The Commander of the TNI Military Police Centre, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four perpetrators are members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). He mentioned that the four have initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. According to Yusri, the officers have detained the four suspects at the military detention facility Pomdam Jaya Guntur since 18 March 2026.
