Vice Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, conveyed directives from Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding the strengthening of food security aspects in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. One of them is Gibran’s request for BGN to accelerate the equitable implementation of the MBG programme, especially in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. This is based on the results of his visit to several provinces in Papua, where the Vice President found that many districts still do not have Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). “It is advisable for 3T regions to involve state-owned enterprises (BUMNs); from their CSR, they can build kitchens, so it does not have to come from the state budget (APBN) to build kitchens or SPPGs,” said Nanik, quoted from ANTARA, on Monday (27/4/2026). Nanik also explained that Gibran gave directions so that MBG food waste no longer enters the kitchen because it has the potential to become a source of disease. “He suggested that food waste be cleaned outside the kitchen,” she said. These directives will be part of efforts to strengthen food security standards, particularly in the implementation of nutrition fulfilment programmes, to ensure that the quality of food served to the public remains maintained and safe to consume. “As a former entrepreneur in the catering sector, the Vice President fully understands the SOP for kitchen flow and critical matters in food security,” said Nanik.
