Gibran Volunteers: No Directive Yet for 2029 Presidential Election

The volunteer group supporting Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Gibranku, has claimed it has not received any orders to prepare a strategy for the 2029 Presidential Election. The group stated it remains focused on overseeing the current government’s programmes. Gibranku Chairman Ananta Agung Junaedy said claims about winning the election for Gibran in 2029 from one group do not represent the overall stance of volunteers for the eldest son of the 7th President Joko Widodo. According to him, this was merely an aspiration from one volunteer group. “Gibranku respects all aspirations conveyed by fellow volunteers, in this case GP-Gibran. However, we need to convey that the statement is purely an aspiration from one volunteer and does not represent all volunteers,” he said in a statement on Friday (3/9/2026). He confirmed that Gibranku continues to adhere to Gibran’s direction to oversee government programmes. Additionally, the volunteers are also asked to support the policies of the administration under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. According to Ananta, to date there has been no instruction for Gibran’s supporting volunteers to prepare an agenda ahead of the 2029 Presidential Election. Therefore, his side will not make any manoeuvres without direct direction from Gibran. “Gibranku has never been asked to prepare for future political competitions. Our focus today is on supporting the Government’s programmes to realise President Prabowo Subianto’s vision,” he said.
