Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has completed his working visit to five districts/cities in Papua over three days to ensure that several of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes have a direct impact on the community.

During the three days from 20-22 April 2026, Gibran, accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, visited five districts/cities in Papua, namely Nabire (Central Papua), Mimika (Central Papua), Yahukimo (Papua Mountains), Sorong, and Raja Ampat (Southwest Papua).

“In this visit, it so happens that we are also accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, the regional heads, and the entire forkopimda. As the President’s assistants, we are committed to accelerating development in Papua,” said Gibran in response to journalists’ questions when met after inspecting the Sorong District General Hospital in Southwest Papua on Wednesday.

According to the Vice President, the government is currently continuing to strengthen coordination through various instruments, including special institutions for accelerating development in Papua.

The government has now established two special bodies for accelerating development in Papua, namely the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua and the Steering Body for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua (BP3OKP).

“Now there is the Committee, there is the BP3OKP, everyone is compact and working together to accelerate development in Papua,” said Vice President Gibran.

The Vice President also opened the door for input from the community as part of the ongoing evaluation of government programmes.

“Once again, inputs and evaluations from all citizens, especially Papuan citizens, are very meaningful to us all,” said Gibran.

Accompanying the Vice President at the press conference in Papua were Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, and Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua, Velix Wanggai.
