Gibran Urges Society to Uphold Tolerance: Do Not Let Differences Become Divisive
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged the public to bolster tolerance and unity in the midst of Indonesia’s diversity. This statement was delivered by Gibran while attending the Easter Procession 2026, themed “Light of Peace from the Southern Gateway of the Archipelago”, in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Monday (6/4/2026). “As a pluralistic and diverse nation, we truly need to safeguard unity, peace, and the values of tolerance. Do not let differences become divisive. Do not be easily provoked. Do not easily believe in hoaxes,” said Gibran, quoted from a written statement. In that situation, according to him, the strength of domestic unity becomes the primary foundation for facing various challenges. “We must strengthen each other, protect each other, and support one another because no country can carry out development in an unstable, disunited, and divided condition,” Gibran stressed. “If there are seeds of misunderstanding, immediately mediate, clarify, and seek a middle path,” Gibran added.
