Gibran Urges Lemhannas Participants to Remain Sensitive to Grassroots Conditions
As prospective leaders, there must be sensitivity to what is happening at the grassroots level,” stated Gibrability Gibran Rakabuming Raka during a briefing for participants of the National Leadership Strengthening Education programmes at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Vice President emphasised that an awareness of grassroots issues is a vital asset for future leaders when performing their duties and making decisions. The briefing was attended by participants from the government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the business sector, community organisations, and international participants involved in Lemhannas RI’s national leadership programmes.
He cited the simplification of fertiliser distribution regulations as an example, noting that previous overlapping regulations had caused significant difficulties for farmers. “Imagine 145 regulations related to fertiliser. It was difficult, expensive, and sometimes the goods were unavailable. We do not want that to happen again,” he said.
The Vice President noted that such issues can only be understood if leaders are physically present and listen to public aspirations. Consequently, he encouraged Lemhannas participants to frequently conduct field visits and establish intensive communication with the community to gain a realistic picture of regional challenges.
“That is why, when I am on location, I always make time to discuss matters with village heads, fishermen, and farmers. They certainly have many grievances. This is what we must follow up on,” he added. He urged participants to build strong communication channels to ensure that every policy implementation is aligned with the actual conditions of the people and is widely accepted.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Tubagus Ace Hasan Syadzily, stated that participants have received training in national insight, national leadership, national resilience, geopolitics, and geostrategy. The theme for the P3N participants was “Accelerating National Economic Growth,” while the P4N participants focused on “Strengthening Food Security for National Independence and Public Welfare.”
Ace added that Lemhannas continues to adapt its curriculum and teaching methods to address increasingly complex global challenges, ensuring the substance of education remains robust in producing national leaders capable of navigating global geopolitics and geostrategy.
