Gibran supports digitalisation and AI-based learning in pesantren
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka received a courtesy visit from the extended family of Pondok Pesantren (Ponpes) Miftahul Huda II Bayasari, Ciamis, and expressed support for digitalisation, including artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning in pesantren.
According to an official statement received in Jakarta on Monday, Vice President Gibran discussed with the Council of Kiai K.H. Iqbal Syihabudin in a meeting that forms part of the Prabowo Subianto administration’s commitment to strengthening the development of superior human resources through improvements in education quality, including in pesantren environments, as well as the utilisation of digital technology.
“He (the Vice President) received us happily, and he has programmes for students with his AI programme and today’s digital programme. He welcomed it enthusiastically because the guidance to be given in the pesantren will be his direct programme with students and the community,” said Kiai Iqbal after the meeting.
He stated that the Vice President welcomed various such education initiatives, including strengthening digital technology and AI-based learning for santri and the community.
In addition, on that occasion, they also invited the Vice President to attend the routine alumni reunion organised by Himpunan Alumni Miftahul Huda II (HAMIDU). This year’s event is scheduled to take place from 29 to 31 May 2026.
“We from the pesantren like to hold routine alumni reunions. It’s called Himpunan Alumni Miftahul Huda II (HAMIDU). Coincidentally, it will be held at the end of May, on the 29th, 30th, and 31st. Various series of events will be held then, and we will send an invitation to the Vice President to provide guidance and maintain silaturahmi with the santri at Miftahul Huda II,” explained Kiai Iqbal.
In addition to attending the alumni reunion event, the Vice President is also expected to inaugurate a higher education institution currently in the process of establishment as part of the development of formal education within the Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda II environment.
“Coincidentally, we from Pesantren Miftahul Huda II are in the process of establishing a higher education institution. We hope that the Vice President can inaugurate Perguruan Tinggi An-Nawawi, which will be launched at the alumni reunion event,” he said.
