Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka reviewed vocational training at SMKN 4 Bandarlampung, Lampung, on Friday as part of efforts to strengthen the quality of human resources (HR) through vocational education that is adaptive to the needs of the job market and global competition.

According to information received in Jakarta, SMKN 4 Bandarlampung is one of the leading vocational schools in Lampung Province that has the Migrant Vocational Class programme.

That programme can be followed by students across majors, such as pharmacy, nursing, to visual communication design, with intensive Japanese language learning as preparation for working or continuing education abroad, especially in Japan.

On that occasion, the Vice President appreciated the Lampung Provincial Government’s initiative in presenting a vocational programme that opens wider opportunities for the younger generation to contribute at the international level.

“Thank you very much, Mr Governor, for the initiative. Indeed, if a new programme is running, there will certainly be shortcomings. That’s fine, we will collaborate later,” said the Vice President.

In a dialogue with students and school officials, it was conveyed that the school currently faces limitations in Japanese language teaching staff. In addition, Japanese language competency testing services are not yet available in Lampung Province, so students must take the exam outside the region.

In response to that, Gibran assured that the government will strive to find solutions to support the development of the programme and help the students achieve their dreams.

“We’ll find the solution. So that these siblings can achieve their dreams. The important thing is that you all stay enthusiastic,” he said.

Ending his visit, the Vice President motivated the students to continue studying diligently and maintain the good reputation of Indonesian youth abroad.

“That’s why you study properly, we’ll find the teachers,” he said.

Accompanying the Vice President in the review were DPD RI member Bustami Zainudin, Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, Principal of SMKN 4 Bandarlampung Dewi Ningsih, and Acting Secretary of the Vice President Al Muktabar.
