Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has responded to the detention of Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma (Doctor Tifa), calling on all parties to follow the legal process and praying for the best regarding their health. “Just follow the process, and most importantly, we pray for the best for Mr Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa, because yesterday I heard that both are being treated at the National Police Hospital,” Gibran said when asked by journalists during a working visit to Asmat Regency, South Papua, as quoted by Antara on Sunday (21/6). The response was made regarding questions about the detention of the suspects in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the diploma of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa are currently undergoing inpatient care at the Kramat Jati National Police Hospital following a medical examination on Friday (19/6) evening. “I hope they recover soon. I hope they get well soon,” Gibran added. Their legal counsel, Refly Harun, stated on Friday (19/6) that the general condition of Roy and Tifa was good, but the examination revealed pre-existing conditions requiring monitoring and further medical treatment. According to Refly, the medical team assessed that their health condition did not yet allow them to return to activities without medical supervision. Therefore, doctors recommended inpatient care to ensure their health remains stable during the observation period. Refly said Roy initially did not plan to be hospitalised. However, after discussions with his family and legal team, he accepted the doctor’s recommendation. He conveyed that the duration of treatment could not yet be determined and depends entirely on their health development and the medical team’s decision. “As for how long they will be treated, we do not know. It depends on the development of their condition and the doctor’s decision,” said Refly.
