Gibran Responds to Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa's Detention, Urges Following Legal Process and Prays for Their Recovery

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has responded to the detention of Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, urging all parties to follow the legal process and praying for their health. “Just follow the existing process and, most importantly, let us pray for the best for Mr Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa, because I heard yesterday that both are being treated at the National Police Hospital,” Gibran said during a working visit to Asmat Regency, South Papua, on Sunday. He was responding to questions regarding the detention of the suspects, who are accused of defamation and slander concerning the authenticity of the diploma of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Both are currently receiving inpatient care at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital following a medical examination on Friday evening, 19 June 2026. “May they recover soon. May they get well soon,” Gibran added. Their legal counsel, Refly Harun, stated on Friday that Roy and Tifa’s general condition was good, but the examination revealed pre-existing conditions requiring further monitoring and medical treatment. According to Refly, the medical team assessed that their health did not yet permit them to resume normal activities without supervision. Doctors therefore recommended hospitalisation to ensure their condition remains stable during the observation period. Refly noted that Roy had initially not planned to be admitted, but accepted the doctors’ recommendation after discussions with his family and legal team. He added that the duration of their treatment remains uncertain and will depend entirely on their progress and the medical team’s decision.
