Gibran Requests TNI-Polri to Maintain Security in Yahukimo for Smooth Implementation of Prabowo's Priority Programmes

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has requested that TNI and Polri personnel work synergistically to ensure security in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan, for the smooth implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, allowing them to be directly felt by local residents.

During a dialogue with TNI families at Koramil 1715/06 Dekai, Yahukimo, Vice President Gibran appreciated the efforts of TNI and Polri in maintaining security in the conflict-prone area.

“I ask the TNI and Polri—thank you for your hard work. I truly want the situation to be safe, with no interests whatsoever. I only want to implement all of President Father’s priority programmes, and ultimately, the ones who will benefit are the people,” Gibran said, as quoted on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

Gibran stressed that his visit to Yahukimo carries no particular interests.

The former Mayor of Solo stated that he only wishes to carry out President Prabowo Subianto’s orders so that priority programmes, such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Health Checks (CKG), provision of subsidised housing for the people, and the Red and White Village Cooperatives, can reach the residents of Yahukimo.

However, Gibran emphasised that all government programmes can run optimally if the situation in Yahukimo is ensured to be safe.

“If Yahukimo and its surroundings are ensured to be safe, we can automatically bring President Father’s programmes here—MBG, CKG, people’s housing, cooperatives—there are many programmes that can be promoted in this place,” Gibran said.

During the event, he also appreciated the TNI and Polri’s efforts in providing security during the working visit to Yahukimo.

As is known, Yahukimo Regency is an area prone to security disturbances due to the presence of armed criminal groups (KKB).

The Vice President’s presence in Yahukimo aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, which emphasise the importance of security stability as the main foundation for accelerating development and equitable distribution of government programmes to remote areas.

During his three-hour stay in Yahukimo, Gibran inspected the implementation of MBG at Yahukimo Christian School, health facilities at Dekai Regional General Hospital, and held a dialogue with TNI families at Koramil 1715/06 Dekai, which serves as the headquarters for Yonif 5 Marines and Taipur/Timsus 303 for securing the Yahukimo area.
