Gibran Reportedly Not Holding Eid Open House, Opts to Gather with Family
JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is said not to be holding a griya (open house) for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Raja Juli Antoni, after Eid al-Fitr prayers at Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (31/3/2026). “I’ve checked, oh, there’s no open house. Mas Gibran has no open house, but there seems to be a family gathering at Mas Gibran’s place,” he said. “I don’t know the exact details, but they plan to gather just with family, without invitations or holding an open house,” Raja Juli explained. The same applies to Vice President Gibran’s mother, Iriana Jokowi Widodo. Meanwhile, Raja Juli, who is also the Minister of Forestry, stated that he will not hold an open house. He said he is following President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions for officials to avoid excessive activities. Instead, Raja Juli is giving his staff a holiday. The public is welcome to attend halalbihalal and silaturahmi activities with President Prabowo at the Palace, Jakarta, on Saturday afternoon. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Prabowo will return directly to Jakarta after performing Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh Province. “After that (from Aceh), the President will go to Jakarta. Then, possibly at the palace, in the afternoon we are preparing halalbihalal and silaturahmi for all members of the public who wish to visit,” Teddy said in his statement. Teddy explained that the State Palace will be open to the public in the afternoon, specifically after Dhuhr prayers until the evening. The Palace will also implement a staggered visitation scheme to ensure public comfort. It is estimated that the number of visitors present could reach around 5,000 people, with arrangements for areas inside and outside the Palace to accommodate public enthusiasm.
