Gibran promotes inclusive AI literacy to face digital disruption
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has emphasised the importance of equitable artificial intelligence (AI) literacy across all layers of society to face digital disruption.
He conveyed this during an audience with the Merapi National Economic Forum 2026 at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday.
According to information received by ANTARA in Jakarta, the meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preparing adaptive and inclusive human resources to face digital transformation, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.
“The directive we received is to continue educating the entire society about AI,” said Executive Director of the Merapi National Economic Forum, Sergie Althaf Amir, after the meeting.
According to Sergie, the rapid pace of technological development demands readiness from all elements of society without exception. He is convinced that in the coming years, there will be a massive technological revolution, namely the digital revolution.
“And all parties will be impacted, everyone will be affected. Therefore, all segments of society, boomers, Gen Z, millennials, even the very elderly, everyone must understand and be able to utilise AI developments,” he said.
Furthermore, he revealed that the meeting also discussed the potential impact of AI on employment, including early mitigation steps that need to be prepared.
As a follow-up, the Merapi National Economic Forum has prepared several educational programmes, from academic activities to talkshows discussing the wise and responsible utilisation of AI.
“Now we want to provide educational programmes in some universities, and talkshow programmes about AI, where we discuss ways to address the risks I mentioned earlier,” he stated.
This audience reflects the Vice President’s support for various initiatives to enhance inclusive AI literacy.
These efforts are deemed crucial so that digital transformation not only drives economic growth but also provides broad benefits to society while minimising the risks posed.
