Gibran Prays Eid al-Adha at Istiqlal, Accompanied by Jan Ethes

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming performed Eid al-Adha prayers at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

On-site reports indicate that Gibran attended the prayers alongside his eldest son, Jan Ethes.

Both wore light green koko shirts and sat in the front row.

The Eid al-Adha prayers commenced precisely at 7:00 AM WIB.

Other officials present included Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Law Supratman, DPD RI Chairman Sultan Najamuddin, and several foreign ambassadors.

According to Istiqlal Mosque’s press release, the sermon was delivered by UIN Alauddin Makassar Rector Prof. H. Hamdan Juhannis.

The khutbah’s theme was ‘Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice, Caring for Nature and Humanity’.
