Gibran Performs Eid Prayer at Istiqlal with Jan Ethes, Joined by Several Ministers

Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, performed Eid al-Fitr prayers at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on the first day of Shawwal 1447 Hijriah. He was accompanied by his family. Vice President Gibran sat with his son Jan Ethes. Several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet joined Vice President Gibran in performing the prayers at Istiqlal Mosque. Among them were Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Nusron Wahid, as well as Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani. Istiqlal Mosque held the Eid al-Fitr prayers with the theme “The Victory of Eid al-Fitr Sowing Goodness, Achieving Blessings”. For this year, President Prabowo Subianto spent the takbiran night in North Sumatra on Friday, 20 March 2026, and then performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh on Saturday, 21 March 2026. However, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the Presidential Palace in Jakarta will be open to the general public for halal bihalal activities during Eid al-Fitr 1447 H on Saturday. “At the Palace, in the afternoon, we are preparing halal bihalal and silaturahim for all members of the public who wish to visit,” said Teddy in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday, 20 March 2026. Teddy explained that the event is planned to take place from afternoon to evening with a capacity of around 5,000 people. The attending public, he said, will be served in shifts.
