Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received representatives of students staging demonstrations in several areas of Jakarta. The meeting took place at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday afternoon (15/6/2026).

During the meeting, Gibran said he listened to the demands raised by the students. “I conveyed the government’s commitment to continuously improving various national programmes and policies through open dialogue and absorbing public aspirations, including those from students,” he wrote in a statement on his Instagram account @gibran_rakabuming, cited on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

The students he met were representatives from Universitas Bung Karno and Universitas Mohammad Husni Thamrin Jakarta. They had previously voiced their aspirations during a rally in the Patung Kuda area.

Gibran expressed appreciation for the input provided and the active role of students in overseeing government policies. The government, he said, is open to criticism and suggestions delivered in an orderly and constructive manner, and all aspirations conveyed will serve as evaluation material for the government.

One student representative said the Vice President’s response was very positive, noting that he would record the outcomes of their demands. The Vice President will also audit and consolidate the information and report it to President Prabowo Subianto.
