Gibran meets Malaysian Deputy PM, highlighting close ties between both nations

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibrion Rakabuming Raka, met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon.

Gibran, dressed in a black suit, welcomed the arrival of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The two shared a warm embrace before entering the Vice Presidential Palace.

“Welcome back, Your Excellency. Warm greetings from President Prabowo to Your Excellency. Thank you very much for your visit. Malaysia is our close friend and our strategic partner. I am very pleased with Your Excellency’s arrival,” said Gibran.

He expressed his belief that the visit would further strengthen cooperation between the two countries and open new opportunities that would benefit both Indonesia and Malaysia.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception provided by Vice President Gibran. He also conveyed greetings to the Vice President from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Previously, the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta announced that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was scheduled to undertake a working visit to Indonesia this week to meet Vice President Gibran.

It is noted that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last visited Indonesia from 20-22 April 2025, during which time he met President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran in separate sessions.

During that visit, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also held meetings with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and, alongside ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, launched the ASEAN Unity Drive (AUD) 2025 initiative at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta.
