Gibran Invites Students to Monitor Free Nutritious Meals and Village Cooperatives in Eastern Indonesia
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka invited several university students to join his working visit to Ende, Gorontalo, and the Papua region over several days. Gibran, along with five students from various campuses, departed for eastern Indonesia from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Thursday morning, 18 June 2026. The five students invited by Gibran on the working visit were Keletus Sakaro from Sanata Dharma University, Daffa Ulhaq from the University of Indonesia, Nolan Cristoper Adam from Pelita Harapan University, Rapid Bena Matin from Jenderal Soedirman University, and Salsabila Maulida from the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture. Gibran explained that the participation of the student representatives was part of efforts to strengthen oversight of the management of the free nutritious meals project and the ‘Red and White’ village cooperatives in the regions. He said this step was a follow-up to various student aspirations regarding the implementation of these priority government programmes. ‘I would like to thank all my fellow students for conveying their aspirations peacefully. Thank you for the constructive input,’ he said in an official statement on Thursday, 18 June 2026. According to him, the direct involvement of students in monitoring the programme can ensure its implementation runs transparently, accountably, and is well-targeted. Furthermore, he hopes that student involvement in this working visit can strengthen collaboration between the government and the younger generation in overseeing the execution of government programmes. He stated that the government is committed to utilising every rupiah allocated for various priority programmes optimally and free from corrupt practices. ‘I think these steps are important to maintain public trust,’ said Gibran.
