Gibran Invites Students on Working Visit to NTT, Gorontalo, and Papua
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is undertaking a working visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Gorontalo, and Papua. The visit is part of the government’s effort to strengthen oversight and improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (KDMP).
Gibran was not accompanied solely by his staff; he also invited several student representatives on the trip. Photographs shared by the Vice Presidential Secretariat showed students in university blazers following Gibran up the aircraft steps.
“Today we are accompanied by several student representatives. We will depart for Ende, Gorontalo, and also Papua. The government is committed to continuously improving the governance of MBG and the cooperatives,” Gibran said at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta on Thursday (17/6), as quoted from a press release.
He stated the move was a follow-up to various inputs from students regarding the implementation of the government’s priority programmes. Gibran expressed appreciation to the students for voicing their aspirations peacefully and providing constructive feedback to refine the programmes.
“I would like to thank all fellow students across the country. Thank you for conveying your aspirations peacefully. Thank you for your constructive input, especially regarding MBG and the cooperatives,” said the son of the seventh Indonesian president, Joko Widodo.
He said the government is committed to ensuring that every budget allocated for various priority programmes is utilised optimally and free from corrupt practices. “We will ensure every rupiah is properly utilised, and most importantly, free from corruption. I think these steps are important to maintain public trust,” he added.
The students accompanying Gibran were Keletus Sakoro from Sanata Dharma University, Daffa Ulhaq from the University of Indonesia, Nolan Christoper Adam from Pelita Harapan University, Rapid Bena Matin from Jenderal Soedirman University, and Salsabila Maulida from the Indonesian Arts and Culture Institute.
