Gibran Introduces Prabowo's "Kampung Haji" Programme at 55th Haul of KH Wahab Chasbullah
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka socialised one of President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes while attending the 55th haul recitation event for KH Wahab Chasbullah at the PP Bahrul Ulum Foundation in Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on Sunday morning (10/5/2026).
The programme in question is Kampung Haji, with its planning already underway.
“With your permission, Kyai, this coincides with the establishment of National Santri Day and the formation of the Directorate General for Pesantren. Now, the President has just launched and initiated a programme called Kampung Haji,” said Gibran during his speech at the event, quoted from the YouTube broadcast of the Vice Presidential Secretariat on Sunday.
He explained that the Kampung Haji initiative by the Head of State will complement various Hajj pilgrimage travel services in Indonesia, including the provision of fast-track lanes at several airports.
Likewise, Kampung Haji has the potential to smooth the process and make Hajj costs or the Hajj Travel Fee (Bipih) cheaper.
“Now, with those services in place, there’s Kampung Haji. In the future, it can streamline, facilitate, and, God willing, reduce Hajj costs even further. That’s the President’s aspiration,” he stated.
The former Mayor of Solo then revealed that Kampung Haji will be built on a 45-hectare plot of land.
However, the Kampung Haji will not be available for prospective Hajj pilgrims in 2026.
Its first use is estimated for the 2027 Hajj season.
“So, there’s a 45-hectare plot that will not only be for accommodation but also for other services,” Gibran said.
Prabowo is known to have just returned from a working visit to Cebu, Philippines; as well as Miangas and Gorontalo.
“Warm regards from President Prabowo to everyone,” Gibran mentioned.
“We pray that he remains healthy and can carry out his activities smoothly,” he added.
