PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) (Persero) Tbk or PTPP welcomed the visit of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who inspected the progress of the Bagong Dam construction in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, on Thursday (30/4/2026). The national construction and investment company under the auspices of Danantara Indonesia is handling the Bagong Dam Construction Project Package III. The contract value for the project is Rp 402.31 billion with an implementation period of 1,473 calendar days, starting from 20 December 2024. The visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to accelerating strategic infrastructure development to strengthen water resilience, food security, and flood control in southern East Java. In line with the directives of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, Gibran emphasised the importance of speeding up the project completion so that the benefits of the Bagong Dam can be felt soon by the community, especially farmers and residents of Trenggalek. He also appreciated the project team and conveyed encouraging messages to all workers on the ground. Gibran hopes that this support will further motivate the optimal acceleration of the project completion. Meanwhile, PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo stated that the positive progress of the Bagong Dam project is the result of careful planning, continuous innovation, and solid collaboration among all stakeholders. “PTPP is committed to completing the Bagong Dam project on time while prioritising quality, work safety, and sustainability,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com. As of now, the Bagong Dam project progress has reached 59.49 percent, exceeding the target of 56.56 percent. This reflects the project’s performance running faster than planned. The Bagong Dam has a storage capacity of 17.4 million cubic metres, projected to supply irrigation water for 977 hectares of agricultural land in the Bagong Irrigation Area. In addition, the dam will provide raw water at 153 litres per second and play a role in flood control in Trenggalek Regency. In its implementation, the Bagong Dam project faces quite complex technical challenges.
