Gibran Inspects ASN Flats in Central Papua: Do Not Accept If There Are Design Flaws
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the civil servant (ASN) apartment complex in the Central Papua provincial government centre, located in Wanggar District, Nabire Regency, on Monday (20/04/2026). This inspection was conducted as part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the quality of residential infrastructure for ASN in eastern Indonesia. During the direct review of the room units and building facilities, Gibran expressed appreciation for the progress of the apartment construction, which he deemed to be proceeding well. However, he stressed that during the maintenance phase, all remaining deficiencies must be comprehensively repaired and resolved before the handover to the Central Papua provincial government. He asserted that every stage of construction must meet quality standards from planning to execution. According to him, meticulous attention to ensuring the quality of design and construction is key to enabling the building to be optimally utilised, safely, and sustainably by the ASN who will occupy it. To the Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa, Gibran emphasised not to hesitate in rejecting the work results if design flaws are still found. “Sir, if there is still a design defect, do not accept it. This is professional; do not accept (if there are design flaws),” Gibran firmly stated. “Here is the condition in the rooms. Children’s room, living room, service area. Then this apartment, the layout is like a landed house. There are two bedrooms, a main bedroom. Then there is a children’s bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, a laundry room, a living room, and a dining area,” explained Meda. “The capacity is 44 units for one tower. We are building two towers, so there are 88 units. For the facilities, on the first floor there is a management room, a warehouse, a panel room, public toilets, and a janitor’s space. For the second floor itself, 16 rooms, and the third floor is 16 rooms. Tower 1 and Tower 2 have the same template and design. In addition, we have also equipped it with furniture,” he continued. With this completeness, all apartment units are in full furnish condition and ready to be occupied immediately. In addition, units on the first floor are prioritised for people with disabilities to ensure accessibility and ease of mobility for all residents. This inspection marked the final part of Gibran’s working visit to Nabire, before proceeding to Timika for the next agenda in the Central Papua region.
