Gibran Expresses Condolences over the Deaths of Three TNI Soldiers in Lebanon

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed deep condolences regarding the incident that killed three Indonesian National Army (TNI) soldiers. The three TNI soldiers were part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) world peacekeeping mission.

“The highest respect for the dedication of the soldiers who have carried out their duties in maintaining world peace,” said Gibran in a written statement on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

President Prabowo Subianto, he said, has given instructions to push for a thorough investigation by the United Nations (UN). “Including maximum efforts regarding the process of repatriating the bodies,” he stated.

Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private First Class Farizal Rhomadon while carrying out a peacekeeping mission in the Middle East,” said Prabowo via the Instastory feature on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

The Government Communication Agency stated that Prabowo appreciates the dedication of the soldiers. According to Bakom, Prabowo views them as figures with dedication and courage in maintaining world peace while bringing honour to Indonesia on the international stage.

Previously, an Israeli attack on the peacekeeping force area in Lebanon occurred on 29 March 2026. The explosion caused Private First Class Farizal Rhomadon to be killed. Three other TNI soldiers were injured, namely Private First Class Rico Pramudia, Private First Class Bayu Prakoso, and Private First Class Arif Kurniawan.

A day later, an explosion in southern Lebanon killed two TNI soldiers. The two victims were Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Two other Indonesian military soldiers were also injured, namely First Lieutenant Inf. Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto.
