Gibran Discusses Enhancing Madrasah Teachers' Welfare During PGM Audience

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received an audience from the Madrasah Teachers Association (PGM) to discuss efforts to enhance the welfare and strengthen the capacity of madrasah teachers through the utilisation of technology.

According to an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026), the meeting between the Vice President and PGM officials, held on the same day, addressed initiatives to improve welfare alongside capacity building for madrasah teachers via technology.

During the audience, PGM conveyed several strategic issues, ranging from strengthening technology-based training to regulatory challenges still faced by madrasah teachers, particularly in terms of welfare and employment status certainty.

The specific focus was on matters related to enhancing welfare and strengthening teacher capacity.

The Vice President also emphasised the importance of equitable technology-based training to reach all regions of Indonesia.

PGM General Chairman Yaya Ropandi stated that they had proposed strengthening technology-based training programmes.

This includes in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, as a strategic step to improve madrasah teachers’ competencies.

“Alhamdulillah, we also conveyed how improving the quality of madrasah teachers relates to AI and robotics training in madrasahs. The Vice President has given a signal that we must implement that programme. I even proposed that the training be conducted in every province,” said Yaya after the audience.

This particularly concerns the absence of regulations governing the appointment of private madrasah teachers as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), while also promoting equitable technology-based training.
