Gibran departs for North Sumatra to inspect post-disaster infrastructure development

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka departed from Jakarta for North Sumatra on Friday morning to inspect several locations of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) for residents affected by disasters in Sumatra, as well as various infrastructure projects.

According to observations by ANTARA, Gibran and his delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at approximately 05:15 WIB.

The Vice President’s visit is intended to ensure that the construction of housing and facilities for affected communities is progressing as planned.

The reconstruction of the three provinces affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra is being carried out jointly by 30 ministries/agencies, with support from the private sector under the coordination of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR).

According to data from the PRR Task Force as of 8 August 2026, the number of completed boreholes in Aceh has reached 511 units, alongside 259 boreholes equipped with bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) facilities.

Furthermore, the optimisation of lightly damaged paddy fields has reached 6,706 hectares, while the rehabilitation of damaged paddy fields has reached 4,393 hectares.

Regarding living allowances, out of the allocated budget, 118,594 individuals have received assistance. To date, 18,916 units of temporary housing (huntara) have been constructed, with 18,874 units currently occupied, while 309 units of permanent housing (huntap) are ready for construction.

Additionally, regarding regional transfer funds (TKD) from the central government to local governments, amounting to Rp1,986,498,068,502, as of 16 July 2026, the TKD funds utilised for 346 physical packages total approximately Rp337.29 billion, representing about 40 per cent of the allocation.
