Gibran Condemns SPPG Employees Mocking Free Nutritious Meal Poisoning Victims

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has commented on the actions of employees from the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Bantul, who were seen mocking victims of Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) poisoning. He characterised such actions as bullying.

“The words of these SPPG individuals are very regrettable. Let us work together to maintain a public space that is safe and friendly for everyone. We must not allow children to become victims of bullying,” Gibran stated in an official post on his Instagram account, @gibran_rakabuming, on Sunday (20/09/2026).

The post featured a widely circulated video of SPPG employees eating chicken katsu, juxtaposed with footage of Gibran visiting MBG poisoning victims in Karo, North Sumatra.

Gibran noted that Febiona Purba and Agnesia Parulante Silitonga from Karo Regency, who suffered temporary memory loss due to the MBG poisoning, have now returned home. Both are set to return to school after receiving intensive treatment at RSCM.

“Currently, Agnesia and Febiona have returned to their respective homes in Karo Regency and will be returning to school,” he concluded.

For context, the video of the SPPG employee went viral after being shared by the Instagram account @reset.feeds. The footage shows a man consuming chicken.

“Cruel and heartless! While hundreds of students in Berastagi lay ill due to MBG poisoning, a BGN employee named Gerardus Permanaditya instead created content eating fried chicken, which is strongly suspected to be mocking Febiona Purba, a student who suffered seizures and memory loss,” the post stated.

“This behaviour, deemed entirely lacking in empathy, immediately provoked public fury. It did not take long for netizens to act quickly, scrutinising social media accounts to track the location of the employee,” the account continued.

The Regional Coordinator of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Wirandita Gagat Widyatmoko, confirmed that the individual in question is an employee of the SPPG in Dlingo, Bantul.

“That is correct (regarding the video creator from SPPG Dlingo); the individual holds the position of financial supervisor,” Gagat said when asked for confirmation on Sunday (20/09/2026).

Following up on the viral video, Gagat admitted that a reprimand has already been issued to both the SPPG unit and the individual involved. “We have issued a warning to the SPPG and the person concerned,” he explained.
