Gibran attends Tri Suci Waisak commemoration at Borobudur Temple

JAKARTA – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the climax of the Tri Suci Waisak 2026 commemoration at Borobudur Temple in Central Java on Sunday, 31 May 2026. According to footage from the Indonesian Buddhist Representative (WALUBI) YouTube channel, Gibran was seen wearing a white shirt. He was seated between Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar and WALUBI Chairman Siti Hartati Murdaya. Gibran and attending officials were then given a leaf-like object at the start of the ceremony. He listened as Siti Hartati Murdaya delivered a speech, stating: “Samsara is caused by hatred and greed in pursuing worldly life, which is ultimately impermanent.”
