Gibran attends Ryamizard's lying-in-state ceremony at Defence Ministry

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the honour ceremony and lying-in-state for former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu (2014-2019) at the Defence Ministry in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 1.

According to CNNIndonesia, Gibran arrived at the ministry at 10:59 WIB, disembarking from a Maung MV3 Garuda vehicle in a black suit.

Upon arrival, he immediately entered the building and left the ministry at 11:02 WIB.

Prior to this, President Prabowo Subianto had visited the ministry, arriving at 08:28 WIB. Accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Prabowo also wore a black suit.

Earlier, former Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto were also present at the ministry.

Ryamizard’s remains were transported by the TNI headquarters’ hearse, arriving at the ministry at 07:35 WIB, with family members accompanying the coffin.

The body will be buried with military honours at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery following the honour ceremony at the ministry.

Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of Information at the Defence Ministry’s Secretariat, stated that the military funeral ceremony would take place at 11:00 WIB.

“The deceased will be interred with military honours at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery as a national tribute to a soldier and statesman who dedicated his life to Indonesia,” he said in a written statement on Sunday, May 31.

He added that Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin would personally lead the funeral ceremony.
