Gibran asks Pasuruan kiai to pray for Prabowo’s strength
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked clerics and caretakers at the Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa) Islamic boarding school in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, to pray that President Prabowo Subianto be given the strength to deal with the country’s various problems.
“Please pray, Kyai and Bu Nyai, that the President is always given the strength to resolve the nation’s current problems,” Gibran said, as quoted in a statement from the Vice-President’s Secretariat’s Press, Media and Information Bureau in Jakarta on Friday.
Gibran made the request during a visit on Friday to meet senior clerics, female religious leaders and the caretakers of Dalwa Islamic boarding school in Pasuruan Regency.
The Vice-President was welcomed by the school’s head, Abuya Al Habib Zain Hasan Baharun, and its team of caretakers.
As well as asking for prayers for President Prabowo, Gibran expressed hope that the Indonesian government and public would be given the strength to face various challenges.
“Alhamdulillah, AI and robotics training for the students was able to take place thanks to the support of Kyai and Bu Nyai,” he said.
Gibran said technological expertise needed to be further developed in Islamic boarding schools, including by improving teachers’ ability to guide students.
“I hope teachers will also continue to improve their technological capabilities, so they can continue to guide students as they face the intensifying disruption taking place,” he said.
Dalwa Islamic boarding school is said to have more than 20,000 students.
The Vice-President then visited the grave of the school’s founder, Al-Habib Hasan bin Ahmad Baharun.
Dalwa head Abuya Al Habib Zain Hasan Baharun expressed hope that Gibran’s visit would bring benefits to the school and the Indonesian nation.
“May it bring greater blessings to Dalwa, to the Vice-President, and to this country,” Abuya Al Habib Zain said.
