Senior political analyst Boni Hargens has praised Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s call for public and business support to safeguard national economic stability following the swearing-in of Suahasil Nazara as Finance Minister.

Boni considered Gibran’s statement highly strategic because it was delivered at a crucial moment, providing political certainty and maintaining consistent positive market sentiment amid cabinet reshuffle dynamics.

“Vice President Gibran’s statement is very strategic because it was delivered at exactly the right time, when the market most needed political certainty. The signal of solid executive support prevents negative speculation and preserves investor confidence,” Boni said on Tuesday (15/9/2026).

According to Boni, both domestic and international financial markets responded positively to the appointment of Suahasil Nazara, who replaced Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on Monday (14/9/2026). Suahasil’s track record as a senior economist and experienced bureaucrat at the Ministry of Finance provides assurance of continuity in fiscal policy direction.

In the modern political-economic ecosystem, Boni said, public communication from the country’s top leadership has a direct psychological effect on market movements that is no less important than fiscal policy instruments themselves.

“When the top leadership speaks with one voice, the foundation of public and investor trust becomes far stronger.
