Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived in Maumere, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday to review the post-earthquake response together with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.

During the visit, Gibran also brought along six university students who will carry out trauma healing for the earthquake victims.

Gibran arrived in Maumere at around 13.00 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) and immediately headed to the affected locations.

Previously, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that as of Wednesday (19/8) at 20.00 WIB, a total of 71 fatalities had been recorded as a result of the earthquake that struck the NTT region.

Meanwhile, the total number of displaced people across NTT currently stands at 59,647, with the largest concentration of evacuees in Manggarai.

As of Tuesday (18/8) at 18.00 WIB, air logistics distribution had reached 165 tonnes, with total aid delivered from 15โ€“18 August 2026 amounting to 398 tonnes. Aid continues to be sent primarily via land routes.

The Ministry of Health has also activated nine Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) health facilities to strengthen coordination, monitor the situation, and ensure that health needs following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in NTT can be promptly addressed.

The government has disbursed approximately Rp44 billion for disaster management in NTT, according to the Ministry of Finance as of Wednesday (19/8).
