Gibran and Pramono Inspect Harmoni MRT Project, Targeting Operations by End of 2027
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, accompanied by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, inspected the MRT Phase 2A project in Harmoni, Central Jakarta. Following the inspection, Pramono targeted the MRT to be operational by 2027.
“This morning, I accompanied the Vice President, and the Minister of Transportation was also present to check the progress of Phase 2A for the North-South MRT. We got off at Sawah Besar, then went to Harmoni,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Pramono stated that the construction of MRT Phase 2A is currently progressing according to target. He mentioned that the MRT line up to Harmoni is targeted to undergo commissioning in mid-2027 before full operations at the end of the year.
“If viewed overall, the progress is now at 59.7 percent and in line with what the MRT President Director conveyed some time ago, starting from mid-2027 we will commission, then operations to Harmoni will be carried out at the latest by the end of 2027,” he said.
Meanwhile, the construction of MRT Phase 2A up to the Kota Tua area is targeted to be completed by the end of 2029. With the completion of the project, the main North-South MRT route spanning 22.2 kilometres will be fully connected.
“As for up to Kota, or what we call Kota Tua, it is planned for the end of 2029. Thus, once this is finished, the main North-South route spanning 22.2 kilometres will be fully completed in 2029,” he explained.
Pramono also revealed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is continuing preparations for the construction of the East-West MRT. Currently, land acquisition, route determination, and construction points are still underway.
“And hopefully, if this runs smoothly, the first segment can hopefully be enjoyed in 2030 for east-west,” he said.
Pramono mentioned that Gibran expressed appreciation for the progress of the MRT Phase 2A construction. According to him, Gibran is pleased because the project is running smoothly and is being carried out by Indonesian workers.
“Overall, he expressed joy and satisfaction because he had seen it before. The progress is quite good, and especially the tunnel is quite neat,” Pramono said.
