Gibran and Cabinet Members Attend Ryamizard Ryacudu's Wake
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the wake of former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, which was held at the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Building in the Ministry of Defence, Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. His presence at the condolence room was brief.
According to Tempo’s observations, Gibran arrived at the Ministry of Defence’s grounds shortly before the farewell ceremony began at around 10:59 WIB. He entered the building where the late minister was lying in state, then left the premises at 11:02 WIB, before the ceremony commenced.
In addition to Gibran, several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet also paid their respects to the former Defence Minister under President Joko Widodo. Among them were Food Affairs Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Human Development and Culture Coordinating Minister Pratikno, and Culture Minister Fadli Zon.
Separately, President Prabowo Subianto had arrived earlier. The head of state was accompanied by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. Prabowo spent approximately two hours at the wake before departing to the Pancasila Building Field on Jalan Taman Pejambon, Jakarta, to serve as the chief inspector for the national Pancasila Day ceremony.
Ryamizard passed away on Sunday afternoon, 31 May 2026. The former Indonesian Army Chief of Staff died at the age of 76 at Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta.
After being laid to rest at the Ministry of Defence, Ryamizard’s remains will be buried with military honours at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery in South Jakarta. The funeral ceremony will be led by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
