Gibran accompanies Prabowo at cross-generational leaders' meeting at Merdeka Palace

Jakarta — Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka accompanied President Prabowo Subianto in a meeting with a number of national leaders, including cross-generational leaders, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday night (3 March). According to briefings received on Wednesday, the gathering served as a space for national goodwill and as a forum for strategic dialogue bringing together cross-generational leaders. Secretary to the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the President invited former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, former Foreign Ministers, and the General Secretaries of political parties to attend. ‘Alhamdulillah, almost all were present. Tonight is for discussion, networking, and exchanging views,’ Teddy told media. He further said the forum would address a range of strategic issues, both nationally and globally. The President aims to directly harvest views, experiences, and input from national figures to enrich perspectives and reinforce the government’s policy direction going forward. Those present included former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (the 6th President), former President Joko Widodo (the 7th), Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (the 10th and 12th), Boediono (the 11th), and Ma’ruf Amin (the 13th Vice President). Also attending were party leaders such as PAN’s Zulkifli Hasan, NasDem’s Surya Paloh, Demokrat’s Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, PKB’s Muhaimin Iskandar, PKS’s Al Muzammil Yusuf, and Golkar’s Bahlil Lahadalia. Several former Foreign Ministers Alwi Shihab, Hassan Wirajuda and Marty Natalegawa were present, along with members of the Merah Putih Cabinet. The meeting lasted about three-and-a-half hours, starting at 19:30 WIB and ending around 23:00 WIB. This cross-generational gathering reflects the continuity of national leadership and a spirit of collaboration in facing the nation’s challenges. The occasion is expected to strengthen national solidarity amid the increasingly complex global dynamics.
