Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka held a dialogue with fishermen and shrimp farmers to absorb the aspirations of coastal communities during a visit to the Red White Fishermen Village (KNMP) in Margasari Village, Labuhan Maringgai Subdistrict, East Lampung, Lampung, on Friday.

Based on information received, the dialogue was conducted to directly listen to various aspirations and challenges faced by coastal communities.

On that occasion, the Vice President stressed the importance of collaboration among all parties in successfully implementing President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, particularly in the field of food self-sufficiency.

“Essentially, we want to succeed in the President’s priority programmes, especially food self-sufficiency. This programme will not succeed if only the government is working. We all must work together,” said Gibran.

“We will complete the shortcomings one by one. We ask for time to fill these deficiencies,” he added.

In the dialogue, the fishermen conveyed several issues, including those related to fuel quotas and permits for fishing fleets.

In response, Gibran assured that the government would follow up on the various challenges faced by the community so that fishermen’s activities can run optimally.

“If there are any shortcomings related to permits, fuel quotas, or other matters, please report them immediately. We will follow up promptly,” he said.

On that occasion, Gibran emphasised that the development of the KNMP must be able to transform the fishermen’s village into a productive, modern, and integrated area, thereby providing greater added value for the community.

“Maximise the facilities and services so that the community can focus on catching fish and increasing production results,” he said.

Accompanying the Vice President during the visit were Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, East Lampung Regent Ela Siti Nuryamah, Director General of Capture Fisheries of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Lotharia Latif, and Margasari Village Head Wahyu Jaya.
