Gianyar Regional Council Urges Timely Completion of Bakbakan Sports Centre
The Gianyar Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) has requested that the construction of the Sports Centre (GOR) in Bakbakan Village, Gianyar, be completed on schedule and with budget efficiency. The council noted that the development of this sports centre in Bakbakan Village represents a long-term investment.
“In our efforts to improve the quality of public services and support community needs, our primary focus is the sports centre in Bakbakan Village, Gianyar,” stated the Deputy Chairman of the DPRD, I Ketut Astawa Suyasa, during a plenary meeting of factional general views at the Gianyar DPRD office on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
The Bakbakan Sports Centre is located on Jalan Triwanisa-kawan, or Jalan Raya Petak, in Bakbakan Village, Gianyar. The capacity of this sports arena is larger than that of the existing sports centre on Jalan Kebo Iwa, Gianyar.
Suyasa reminded officials that building quality and post-construction management must be prioritised. He expressed hope that the new sports centre would enhance athletic achievements within the Gianyar Regency.
“The Gerindra Faction suggests that the construction of the sports centre (GOR Bakkan) be carried out with punctuality, budget efficiency, effective post-construction management, and high construction quality,” said Suyasa.
The plenary meeting was also attended by the Vice Regent of Gianyar, Anak Agung Gde Mayun. In addition to highlighting the Bakbakan Sports Centre, the Council discussed various views presented by other factions.
For instance, the PDI Perjuangan Faction of the Gianyar DPRD highlighted the reduced coverage of BPJS Kesehatan regarding medicines and medical procedures. In response, the council urged the Gianyar Regency Government to provide solutions through the PBI APBD scheme or the BK Program in accordance with regulations.
The Council also addressed the repair of damaged roads in Gianyar. The PDIP Faction requested that the funding for repairing damaged roads be finalised in the following year’s budget.
Furthermore, the Golkar Faction discussed the ‘One Family, One Graduate’ Programme. There were also general views from the Demokrat Bersatu Faction, which urged that the 2026 Regional Budget (APBD) Revision prioritise the empowerment of MSMEs, social protection for the underprivileged, the preservation of arts and culture, the environment, and bureaucratic reform.
“We hope that the 2026 APBD Revision is truly pro-people, addresses the needs of the community, and ensures that every rupiah of the budget provides real benefits for the welfare of the people of Gianyar,” the faction stated.
