Gianyar Regent oversees district road construction projects
Gianyar Regent I Made Mahayastra has directly supervised district road construction projects at several locations to ensure that development targets and quality are carried out according to plan.
“If possible, it should be finished by November (2026). If not, by December at the latest, but the quality must be good,” said Mahayastra while inspecting road works in Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Sunday.
He checked the implementation of projects on five road sections: Jalan Tojan-Perangsada-Saba, which has currently reached only about 12.3 percent; Jalan Tebuana-Gelumpang at about 8.7 percent; Jalan Samu-Belang at 12 percent; Jalan Keliki-Sebali-Payogan at 5.6 percent; and Jalan Tengipis-Gambih at 6.5 percent.
The contract signing with the implementing partners was previously carried out on 18 July 2026, marking the start of physical works on the district roads.
On that occasion, he instructed the project implementers to complete the works according to target while prioritising work quality.
The Gianyar Regent also asked the implementers to accelerate the works where possible, but without sacrificing construction quality.
“Road construction must provide long-term benefits for the community. Therefore, accelerated works need to be balanced with supervision of the quality of the results so that the infrastructure built can be used safely and comfortably,” he said.
He stressed that the regional government is committed to continuing to accelerate the handling of district roads, with the target that all damaged district roads can be completed gradually.
Road infrastructure development and quality improvement is one of the priorities of the Gianyar Regency Government.
In 2026, the Gianyar Regency Government has allocated approximately Rp189.8 billion to handle a total of 36 road work packages in various areas.
By the end of 2026, the regency is targeting a road stability rate of around 85 percent.
Meanwhile, in 2025, the Gianyar Regency Government carried out 55 road work packages with a total budget of Rp191.5 billion.
In 2027, the Gianyar Regency Government will focus development on neighbourhood roads, after most district road sections are in stable condition.
