Gianyar Regency Taps Creative Economy Actors' Creativity Through Logo Design Competition
Gianyar, Bali - The Gianyar Regency Government is harnessing the creativity of creative economy actors to design a regional logo that embodies the philosophy of the Padma flower mascot. “The Padma flower grows from mud yet remains clean and beautiful, philosophically representing the ability to stay pure amid various life challenges,” said the Secretary of Gianyar Regency, I Gusti Bagus Adi Widhya Utama, in Gianyar, Bali, on Friday. He hopes the designs will reflect the cultural values, philosophy, and spirit of Gianyar’s community. The regional logo is inspired by the Padmakara mascot (Padma flower/lotus), which will serve as the official visual identity of the Gianyar Regency Government in accordance with applicable regulations. The regional logo, he continued, plays an important role in strengthening the area’s image, serving as a promotional tool and effective visual communication aid in various government activities, tourism, education, creative economy, and other positive endeavours. The open county-wide selection is being held from 26 March to 1 April, followed by judging and presentation stages, with the winner to be announced on 18 April 2026. He invited the people of Gianyar from various professions, especially those skilled in graphic design, fine arts, illustration, and other creative economy fields, to produce creative ideas for creating a logo with a total prize of Rp50 million. The Gianyar Regency Government requires participants to hold a Gianyar resident identity card (KTP), but does not limit professions. Participants are required to submit one design work that does not infringe on copyrights or use artificial intelligence (AI) in its creation, or it must be purely their own work and not previously entered in similar competitions. The selection committee is being managed by the Gianyar Regency Communication and Informatics Office to conduct the competition, involving a judging panel from professional design or art practitioners, as well as academics or figures who understand art and culture. “We hope for original, characterful, and sustainable works that can become an official visual identity that is proud and represents the spirit of the Gianyar community,” he said.
