Gianyar Regency Shares Cultural Tourism Development Strategies with BI North Sumatra
Gianyar, Bali (ANTARA) - The Gianyar Regency government in Bali has shared strategies for developing culture-based tourism with the Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office in North Sumatra Province to boost regional economic growth sources.
“This visit is an effort to strengthen inter-regional synergy in developing strategic areas based on sustainable tourism,” said Deputy Regent of Gianyar Anak Agung Gde Mayun in a press release while receiving BI North Sumatra and the North Sumatra regional government in Gianyar, Bali, on Monday.
The Deputy Regent of Gianyar explained that sustainable economic development must be able to maintain and preserve cultural identity, empower local communities, and still pay attention to environmental sustainability.
In addition, he continued, the development of strategic areas requires cross-sector collaboration, from central government, local government, financial institutions, academics, investors, to the community.
Therefore, the discussion forum between the two regions is important as a medium for exchanging experiences, sharing best practices, as well as compiling integrated and sustainable area development strategies.
His side continues to strive to create a healthy investment ecosystem through improving the quality of public services, strengthening MSMEs, developing the creative economy, digitising services, as well as building supporting infrastructure for tourism and community economy.
Meanwhile, tourism development balances three main aspects, namely environmental sustainability, socio-cultural sustainability, and economic sustainability.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the BI North Sumatra Representative Office Iman Gunadi stated that the visit to Gianyar Regency aims to study the culture-based tourism development strategies that have been successfully implemented in Gianyar.
In addition, representatives of the central bank in that region also explored best practices in integrated destination management that can serve as references for the development of the Danau Toba Special Economic Zone (KEK).
“This visit also serves as an opportunity to strengthen inter-regional collaboration in driving economic growth through the tourism sector,” he said.
“Thank you to the Gianyar Regency Government for receiving our visit well. We hope that the various experiences and inputs obtained through this meeting can serve as references in the development of the Danau Toba KEK,” he added.
