The Gianyar Regency Government in Bali is organising a Design Competition for the Regional Mascot Logo as a strategic step to strengthen the area’s identity and image. This event also serves as a platform for public participation, allowing designers, artists, and creative individuals to contribute their best ideas.

“This competition is an opportunity to immortalise works as a symbol of pride for Gianyar Regency,” said the Secretary of Gianyar Regency, I Gusti Bagus Adi Widhya Utama. He stated that registration for participants is open until Wednesday, 1 April 2026, starting from 26 March.

“Registration is open from 26 March to 1 April 2026,” said Secretary I Gusti Bagus Adi Widhya Utama on Monday (30/3).

Subsequently, the first stage of judging and presentation of finalists will take place on 14 April 2026, followed by the second stage of evaluation on 17 April 2026, and the determination and announcement of winners on 18 April 2026.

According to him, this mascot logo plays an important role as a strategic medium in strengthening the regional image, a promotional tool, and an effective visual communication aid in various government activities, tourism, education, creative economy, and other positive endeavours.

“The designed mascot is expected to reflect the cultural values, philosophy, and spirit of Gianyar’s community. Additionally, the logo should be easily applicable to various media, both print and digital, and remain legible in different sizes and backgrounds,” he added.

The competition, officially named “Design Competition for the Gianyar Regency Mascot Logo”, features the mascot named “PADMAKARA”, which will be used as the official visual identity of the Regional Government in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“The Padma flower grows from mud yet remains clean and beautiful, philosophically representing the ability to stay pure amid life’s various challenges. Its eight petals represent the eight cardinal directions and sacred values related to the concept of Dewata Nawasanga,” he explained.

Furthermore, the Secretary, affectionately known as Gus Bem, explained that the competition is open and on a regency scale, particularly for Gianyar residents skilled in graphic design, fine arts, illustration, or other creative fields.

“Through this event, the Gianyar Regency Government hopes to produce an original, characterful, and sustainable mascot logo design that can serve as an official visual identity that is proud and represents the spirit and identity of Gianyar’s people,” he said.

For this competition, Gianyar Regency requires participants to have a Gianyar ID card, but does not limit professions. Participants must submit one design work that does not infringe on copyrights, does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its creation, or must be purely their own work and has not been entered in similar competitions before.
