The Gianyar Regency Government is preparing fiscal incentives and assistance for foreign tourists in Gianyar affected by the conflict between the United States-Israel alliance and Iran.

As previously reported, several international flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali were cancelled due to airspace closures in various Middle Eastern countries. Consequently, thousands of passengers were affected by flight cancellations and stranded in Bali.

“If tourists are trapped and run out of provisions, the government will definitely intervene,” said Gianyar Regent I Made Mahayastra following a plenary session at the Gianyar District Council office on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

In addition to direct incentives from the government, the Gianyar Regency Government is also engaging with accommodation operators. Hotel and lodging owners are being urged to provide compensation for foreign tourists stranded in Gianyar due to flight cancellations.

“We are engaging with hotels. Secondly, government subsidies. That would also be possible,” said Mahayastra.

Mahayastra stated that the central government has also been engaged to help provide incentives for foreign tourists stranded in Gianyar. “Because the assistance amount depends on calculations. We hope that hotels will also contribute,” he added.

As previously reported, a total of 64 international flights at Ngurah Rai Airport were cancelled due to airspace closures in various Middle Eastern countries. This total was recorded from 28 February to 6 March 2026 at 17:00 Wita. A total of 8,187 passengers were affected by the flight cancellations.
