Gianyar Regency dismisses three civil servants involved in drug cases and absenteeism
Gianyar, Bali - The Gianyar Regency government in Bali has proposed the dismissal of three civil servants for their involvement in drug abuse cases and absenteeism from duties. “We will not tolerate serious disciplinary violations or criminal acts committed by civil servants,” said the Secretary of Gianyar Regency, I Gusti Bagus Adi Widhya Utama, in Gianyar on Tuesday. The three civil servants, initialled DMCDPP, who works in the Civil Service Police Unit, was proven to have committed the criminal act of possessing Class I narcotics with evidence weighing more than 5 grams. Then, KSS, who works at the Environmental Office and is also entangled in a drug case as a courier in the sale and purchase of Class I narcotics. Both civil servants have been convicted guilty at the Denpasar District Court in accordance with Denpasar District Court Decision Number 1473/Pid.Sus/2025/PN and Gianyar District Court Decision Number 12/Pid.Sus/2026/PN. He explained that both were dismissed in accordance with Law Number 20 of 2023 on Civil Servants and Government Regulation Number 49 of 2018 on the Management of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). The third civil servant, initialled LNH, who works at the Gianyar Regency Environmental Office, was also dismissed for not reporting to work without a valid reason for ten consecutive working days. He violated the Regent of Gianyar Regulation Number 47 of 2024 on the Enforcement of Civil Servant Discipline in the Gianyar Regency Government. The decision to dismiss the three civil servants came after discussions by the Disciplinary Penalty Consideration Team (TPHD), chaired by the Secretary of Gianyar as the Personnel Development Officer (PPK). The Secretary of Gianyar added that this firm sanction is a form of commitment to enforcing discipline, integrity, and professionalism among civil servants in the government environment. “Civil servants must set an example in providing services to the community,” he said. He added that this step is also expected to serve as a lesson for all employees to maintain ethics, obey rules, and carry out duties with full responsibility. “If there is negligence towards undisciplined employees and the immediate superior does not take firm action, the relevant superior may also be sanctioned, including the possibility of being removed from their position,” he said.
